The people you spend the most time with can influence the person you become.
So how do you choose the right friends?
Look beyond popularity and status.
1. Look at character. How do they treat people when they have nothing to gain?
2. Choose people who respect your goals. They don’t need the same ambitions, but they should respect yours.
3. Find people who tell you the truth. A friend should be able to correct you without trying to destroy you.
4. Pay attention to habits. What do you normally do when you’re together?
5. Celebrate each other’s progress. Friendship shouldn’t become a constant competition.
6. Build trust slowly. Watch how people handle secrets, promises, disagreements, and responsibility.
7. Don’t choose friends based only on success. Money and popularity don’t automatically make someone a good friend.
8. Become the friend you want. Be honest, loyal, supportive, and respectful.
You don’t need the biggest social circle.
You need relationships where you can be yourself, grow, receive honest feedback, and support each other.
Choose your close relationships carefully, and be worthy of the relationships you want.
